Insurance & Costs
We accept most major health insurance plans.
Beaufort Memorial has been a trusted source of healthcare for Lowcountry families for decades.
You can count on us for safe, family-focused care and fair billing after your visit to Beaufort Memorial Emergency & Urgent Care.
Fair Billing Keeps Your Cost as Low as Possible
Each insurance company negotiates rates for its members. Your specific health insurance plan states your out-of-pocket expenses for urgent care or emergency room (ER) services. If you receive urgent care services, our fair billing policy will ensure you only pay urgent care fees (compared to higher ER billing).
This fair and transparent billing policy will save many families money, since most patients will only need urgent care services and not emergency treatment. At Beaufort Memorial Emergency & Urgent Care, we'll be open around the clock to treat patients with — or without — health insurance.
What Health Insurance Does Beaufort Memorial Accept?
We'll accept most major health insurance plans, along with Medicaid, Medicare and many others. Browse the list below to see if your plan is one we work with.
Contact your health insurance company to verify that we're in-network with your plan. If you have any questions about your health coverage, visit your insurance company's website or call the phone number on the back of your insurance card.
Don't see your plan? Call us at 843-522-5801 — we may still accept it through an indirect contract. Either way, it's a good idea to contact your insurance company before your visit to confirm your services are covered and that we'll be listed as in-network on your plan.
*Please note that some of the specialists involved in your care — such as emergency physicians and radiologists — are independently employed and bill separately from Beaufort Memorial. Their insurance contracts may not match ours, so we recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm their coverage too.
Insurance & Billing FAQs
Answers to help you understand your coverage and your bill.
What is the difference between my Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and my invoice from Beaufort Memorial Emergency & Urgent Care?
An Explanation of Benefits (EOB) is a document your insurance company sends you to explain what's covered under your policy and what the associated charges are. It's not a bill — it's a communication from your insurance company to you. The amount shown may not match your final bill from Beaufort Memorial Emergency & Urgent Care.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We'll be in-network with most major insurance networks. See the full list here or check with your carrier to see if we are in-network for your specific plan.
What does in-network and out-of-network mean?
For urgent care services at Beaufort Memorial Emergency & Urgent Care in Hilton Head, being in-network means we have a contract with your insurance company that sets the agreed-upon cost for your care. Being out-of-network means we don't have that contract, so your insurance company and benefit plan determine the rate you're billed.
For emergency care, state and federal law require us to treat every patient regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. Because of this, your insurance company should treat your visit as in-network, and you'll be billed the amount defined by your insurance plan.
Can I pay my bill online?
Yes. To pay your bill online, visit our Pay Your Bill page — we will offer several convenient payment options.
